In a culmination of the 2016 Gender Equality Seal certification process, a digital version of the silver medal has formally been awarded to UNDP Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwe Country Office achieved a silver level certification based on the final score of 70%, fulfilling 26 out of 37 benchmarks. This is a significant improvement from a baseline of 47.62% in 2015.
The CO was rewarded for its contribution to to the achievement of national gender equality goals through institutional capacity building and support for the Women’s Caucus, which helped to achieve the inclusion of 75% of women’s constitutional demands. Furthermore, the Country Office has contributed to supporting women’s economic empowerment. In addition, the Country Office has contributed to supporting women’s economic empowerment. These accomplishments are due to the positive strides made by the office in developing a comprehensive management system for gender mainstreaming, including a Gender Equality Strategy and Action Plan, making positive steps towards building an enabling environment and partnering with women’s organizations, ministries and UN agencies to promote gender equality.
